Where’s the work?

I found an interesting chart online the other night.  I was just surfing the web, reading some news and I came across an article about how the bail out package is going to create all these jobs for people.  This article was printed last January.  Take a look at the chart below.

I don’t know when the government projected this increase to happen, but I just don’t see it yet.  They estimated almost a 10% job increase in construction due to the bail out package.  I have friends who used to have great jobs in construction.  They could support themselves, they had benefits, and they were hard workers!  Unfortunately for them, they are out of work now and cannot seem to find another job.  These are men with years of experience in their trade.  They are also extremely hard workers.  They have been looking around for the past 6-8 months with barely any luck at all.  I wonder about this bail out package and how it is really helping our economy.  From my personal experience, I have not necessarily seen a 4% increase in jobs in the retail market.  I see huge corporations going under and big retail chains going out of business with no end in sight!  So my question is…when is this going to end?  When are we really going to start feeling the effects of the bail out?  It is very nice that the government is helping us out by offering rebates on old cars and old appliances, but what we really need it work!  The only way for many people to escape the hole they are in is by getting work, which seems to be near impossible for some people these days.
